When I have a need to daydream, such as during yet-another-snowstorm and I’m out of Calgon, I like to search through the real estate section of The New York Times. It’s a world totally separate from mine, one I can only imagine affording and moving into.
This week’s search yielded Homes You Can Buy for $520,000. Really? I don’t think I know anyone who can afford something that expensive. And they are tiny places: the French Quarter two-story condo, one bedroom, two baths, two decorative (read inoperable) fireplaces. And whoever paid a decorator to complete this space was overcharged.
But here. Judge for yourself. Read The New York Times article.
And please note the property taxes on all of these places are little more than the nearly $4,000 I pay for a two bedroom w/loft, two bath, full basement, no garage, septic system in the city, condo.
